As a Senior Associate of Everyday Democracy, Matt Leighninger’s partcipation in the ASCN Think Tank represents the fifth time in as nearly many years that ASCN and Everyday Democracy have travelled and worked together to build their respective efforts.
ASCN has been to the US in 2006, 2011 and 2012. Respectively, Everyday Democracy has been to Australia in 2008 and 2012. The history of this international relationship is captured in a story by Mark Brophy in a recent launched book edited by Professor Maureen Ryan of Victoria Universty in Melbourne.
The book entitled Reflections on Learning, Life and Work: Completing Doctoral Studies in Mid and Later Life and Career records several short personal stories of doctoral study experiences of the students themselves.
Mark’s own personal story on how he came to understand, embrace and help build a Swedish study circle (and later Dialogue to Change Program) effort in Australia provides a strong historical context for ASCN current and future efforts.
